What can you do?

1.!< Ask for a meeting with the parents to make them aware that there are concerns about their child's attendance records >!

2. !< Try and identify things that may be causing absenteeism with young person by asking them to describe reasons and creating an action plan to help solve raised issues  >!

3. !<Schedule a follow up meeting with the young person and parents to discuss whether the situation has improved, allowing some time for your child to try out the new routine.>!

4. !< Seek external help for a possible solution if absenteeism has not improve.  Resources may not be available for inward problem solving, so seek council from a Mentorship organisation for further assistance. >!

5. !< If external help has been called upon, bi-weekly meetings are pivotal to determining positive outcomes as soon as possible

6. !<If, however, you feel the external source isn't improving the situation arrange a TAFT meeting with all parties around the young person - parents, educational psychologist, attendance team, Pastoral, year head etc - to discuss next steps.>!
